All the shitty little apps

App

RosterShots

An app that turns a team's phone photos into headshots in one matching style, then keeps the company's team page up to date through an API.

RosterShots makes headshots for a whole team without a photographer. An admin adds everyone by name and picks one style that applies to all of them. Each person gets their own link, uploads a few casual photos from their phone, and picks the headshot they want to use. Nobody has to make an account.

The headshots are generated from the photos people send in. Nobody goes live until they've picked their own photo, because the result ends up on a public page. The uploaded photos stay private, and the chosen headshot is the only picture that goes anywhere.

The roster is also an API. Instead of someone editing the team page by hand, the company's website reads the list from RosterShots, and a developer sets that up once on the site the company already has. After that, a new hire gets added and sent a link, and someone who leaves is off the site the same day they're removed.

It exists because team pages go stale almost as soon as they're published, and because most people don't have a decent photo of themselves. It's in beta, and free while it is.
